  • 6- Bags of quick setting concrete
  • 6- 6x6x10′s
  • 6- 6x6x8′s

  • 10- 3/8×8″ eye bolts with nuts and washers

With just those parts (and a decent set of tools), you'll have all you need to put together your own gorgeous backyard fire pit swing set like the one at top. Goods Home Design has the pictures to serve as your guide and while they didn't include any additional directions beside the pictures and materials, comments from the post suggest that these basics and a little building experience really are all you need to make yourself a fire pit with five wooden swings around it.

The comments are also a good place to find a few extra building tips and useful modification ideas -for example, one reader suggested replacing a few of the swings with a trellis that can be adorned with beautiful plants of your choosing.

The Perfect Home for a Photographer

Everyone wants a home that looks nice, but photographers are even more visually-oriented than the average homebuyer. So when one photographer wanted a home constructed in a disused quarry beside Brecon National Park, it was particularly important that the structure provide as many possible views and backdrops for his images while still offering sufficient space to hang his previous works.

House for a Photographer, as the project was named, was conceived of by Welsh firm Hyde + Hyde Architects. As an artist, the client insisted the building look unobtrusive with its surroundings while appearing to be merely placed in the landscape -creating an elegantly simple visual impact. The building ends up looking suspended in the basin where it sits, adorned with massive windows that collect ample natural light and allow the resident to focus on distant views.

20 Wonderful Pieces of Furniture For Pets

We love our pets, which is why we want to give them the best of everything –even pet furniture. And here is some of the greatest furniture our friends with four legs could ever hope to enjoy all to themselves.

Entry Room Table Crate

D.T. Carlson Co. transformed this lovely entry room table with a built in chalkboard into a functional dog crate so the pup can be the first thing the resident sees and tends to when returning home.

Desk Crate

Designer Jamie Kovach wanted something a bit more stylish when her dogs outgrew their puppy crate, so she opted to build her own design that would save space while providing the pups with a safe space of their own. The end result was this lovely desk crate.

A Playground Like You've Never Seen Before

Beside the Volkswagon Factory of Wolfsburg, Germany is an automotive-themed attraction known as Autostadt. The focus of Autostadt is "people, cars, and what moves them," although like the car industry itself, the attraction has recently began focusing on sustainability. That's where the MobiVersum comes in.

16 Cool and Creative Shelving Systems

Just about everyone needs shelves in their home, whether to store their books out of the way or to put some of their cool collections on display. Whatever you need shelves for, these sixteen designs are some of the most striking and impressive creations we’ve ever come across.

Shelf Pod

Geometric Residence

When Studio 360 was hired to renovate an apartment in Slovenia, their number one goal was to maximize the storage. While all of the Geometric Residence is impressive, the striking, blocky shelves in the living room are what earned this renovation a spot on this list.

Vulcan

What’s better than a wood-burning stove? How about one that doesn’t take up much space that can also add storage to your home? The Vulcan by Arthur Senant is a fireplace first and foremost, but the unique design provides you with an easy place to store all of your wood and fire-related instruments close at hand. Above the fire itself are a system of shelves to store anything else you can imagine.

The Megaton Floor Light Is the Bomb

This impressive Megaton floor lamp by Stockpile Designs makes quite a focal point to any room, and it doesn't just look cool -it's actually a real 100 pound bomb dating back from the Korean War. Don't worry about the dangers of storing a live bomb in your living room though, it's only a casing.

And the rough paint flake design is not going to clash with your fine decor either, as each the steel casing underneath has been hand-polished. The bomb is suspended 42 inches above the ground on a narrow stand and topped with a small linen shade.

This impressive dual-bulb lamp doesn't come cheap though. It goes for a whopping $1,680. If that sounds a little too high for you though, you can always grab the $108 Clusterbomb, $218 WWII Blitz bomb table lamps or the $740 Friendly Fire anti-tank artillery shell lantern

This Cozy, Cool Thailand Home Cost Only $9000

You don't need much to build a 500 square foot home from clay bricks and cement -especially when you live in Thailand, where building and permit laws are rather lax. In fact, it only cost Steve Areen about $9000 to build and furnish this lovely dome-shaped dweling in the country.

The orange house was completed in only about six weeks and while it's a touch small for many people's taste, the tiny place is cozy and offers everything you need to live comfortably in an exotic mango plantation, including an open room next to a pond and a gazebo.

A Few Angles Make A Big Difference In The North Star Apartments

It doesn't take a mathematician to appriciate the beautiful use of angles in the North Star Apartments of Senec, Slovakia. And these striking lines don't just look pretty -they also serve very functional purposes, maximizing the amount of sunlight the apartments get while minimizing the traffic noise from outside.

The four-storey building was built on a low budget while incorporating high design principals. "The goal was to enrich this locality and create an iconic, easy to remember and original building, as an opposite to the patchy and chaotic surrounding development," said Tomas Zacek of Nice Architects.

A Staircase, A Storage Unit and A Desk In One

Every multi-story home requires a staircase to traverse from one level to the next, but most staircases take up a lot of space. This is a serious problem in areas that are already cramped, but Dutch design studio Mieke Meijer found a novel way to make the most of a staircase by combining it with a number of other important elements -namely: a desk, a shelving unit and a storage cupboard.
