Forget the Coffee, These Are Damn Fine Shower Curtains

Shower curtains might not have been a great icon in Twin Peaks -the only one you really notice in the show is the one found wrapped around Laura Palmer's dead body, but that doesn't make these great bathroom decorations any less delightful. In fact, you can even imortalize that famous scene where Laura's body is uncovered in a clear shower curtain on your shower curtain!

8 Homes Made From Non-Traditional Materials

There are those who complain our society is too wasteful and those that do something about it –in some cases, going so far as to make what is essentially trash into their home. In most cases, this odd method of recycling even ends up being cheaper than it would be to create an entirely new structure. Here are a few of our favorites.

Tracy Island

Once a lime works and water-softening treatment plant that closed down in 1942, Tracy Island is now a stunning six-bedroom, six-bath home after undergoing a $2.5 million remodel. Amazingly though, the owners are reselling it uncompleted for $3.3 million, claiming it just needs about $800,000 more work to complete.

No word on what still needs to be done, but as it stands, the five-storey home features a roof-top swimming pool, a three-storey dining room, a gym, a theater, a library, an office, an underground garage and two kitchens. Additionally, the six-acre property features a small forest that blooms rampant with bluebells in the spring.

Tribe Studio's House Bruce Alexander Is A Bike-Lover's Dream

One of the worst things about using a bicycle is finding a place to store it -especially if you don't have a garage. Some people keep their bikes outside in the yard or the porch, while others find a way to keep them inside -either leaning them against the wall or storing them on stands above ground. But the House Bruce Alexander has the most marvelous and innovative bike storage solution we've seen yet.

CentraLux Changes The Cleaning Game

There's nothing all too ground breaking about a central vacuum system -while they do keep getting more efficient, powerful and better overall, they have been around for years. Other than changing the motor, hose or attachments, there's not much you can do to change the systems.

So when it comes to making something new for the central vacuum system, it took a lot of creativity to improve an already strong design. But CentraLux managed to do just that with the development of their VacPan for rooms without carpeting, which is something few other central vacuums have worked on.

Now you no longer need a dustpan for rooms with hardwood floors, tile or concrete -just sweep any dust and trash over to the VacPan and then use your foot to turn on the in-wall vacuum to suck up all the dirt and other debris. When your floor is clean again, just switch it off.

11 of the Most Unique Hotels In the World

There’s a difference between having to spend the night in a hotel when you’re away from home and getting to stay in a hotel on vacation and generally speaking, that difference is in the hotel experience itself. These hotels are unique enough that spending the night in any of these rooms is a treat in and of itself.

Hotel Vrouwe van Stavoren

You might love wine, but it takes a true wino to curl up and fall asleep right in a wine barrel –unless you’re staying at the Hotel Vrouwe van Stavoren in Amsterdam, which features four two-person rooms constructed in vintage 14.500 liter wine casks.

Tubohotel

If you like the round, cozy vibe of Hotel Vrouwe van Stavoren’s wine barrels, but prefer something made from concrete instead of wood, you might find Mexico’s Tubohotel is exactly what you’re looking for. That’s because the rooms in this unique hotel are all made from giant concrete pipes, each fitted with a fan, a queen bed, curtains and a light.

The SlideRider Makes Your Stairs Into A Slide

Many kids use sleeping bags and matresses to slide down stairs, but while these adventures are fun, they aren't especially safe. Inventor Trisha Cleveland envisioned a world where children could freely slide down their stairs without risking broken bones or cracked skulls, so she came up with a collapsable, padded stair slide that could be added and removed from the stairs whenver the kids want to play with it.

Trisha Cleveland submitted the idea on the Quirky inventor site, where the community worked to fully flush out the idea before it will eventually be put up for sale on the site. The indoor/outdoor staircase slide idea was improved to include safety bumpers, to be collapsable into an easily stored package , to come in red and blue and to have a cozy pillow attachment at the bottom of the staircase. The concept also got a catch name and a slogan: SlideRider, The Inside Slide.

While the SlideRider isn't yet available for sale, it looks like it will probably go for somewhere between $60-$75. The site is currently working on the manufacturing process for the creation and hopefully it will be available soon. In the meanwhile, you can subscribe to updates for the SlideRider so you will be the first to know when it is in production.

The Inception Dish Rack/Desk Organizer Is Perfect for Godzilla Fans

While dishwashers are nice to have, not everyone has them or uses enough dishes at home to need them. If you still wash dishes at home though, even if you do them as soon as you dirty them, you need a dish rack.

Unfortunately, most dish racks look pretty similar -there are collapsible metal options, plastic basket ones and wire-based designs. This delightful dish rack by Luca Nichetto provides a unique option that looks like the Manhattan cityscape.

The silicone buildings in the Inception dish rack are perfectly spaced to hold your dishes and glasses up to dry while still looking distinctly like a mini-city. The design can also be used as a desk organizer and since the piece isn't so obviously a kitchen-piece, it will look just fine in any office.

Just try not to have any dreams about this Inception-inspired piece or you might not be able to tell if you're in or out of the dreamworld.

Dorrington Atcheson Architects' Winsomere Crescent Makes Magic From Light And Colors

Cedar, zinc and gorgeous glass artwork make the Winsomere Crescent's colors pop. Located in Westmere, Auckland, Australia, the zinc-clad structure features striking cedar interiors and multiple, colorful, massive windows that look like they were designed by Mondrain.

Impressively, the home isn't even a new structure, but a revamp of what was once a brick bungalow. Despite sitting right outside the water, it didn't have much of a waterview. The new structure though, doesn't have that downside.

The Perfect Study Nook For Intense Cram Sessions

At one point or another, everyone needs to focus deeply on something and while desks and study nooks can be good, they can also offer distractions as well. But Matali Crasset's Deep Attention and Sleep provides a cubicle that not only has a built-in desk, but also an inflated bed as well.

With Deep Attention and Sleep, you can power cram until you litterally pass out and then get right back to work, or you can study a little and then take a little power nap to reflect on what you've learned. It could even be a great option for creative types to brainstorm on the bed and have a nearby seat and table to record their ideas.

15 of the Most Awe-Inspiring Pools In the World

Summer hasn’t officially started, but the warm weather sure has. For those already longing for a cool place to relax as the weather heats up, here are some of the most incredible and mind-blowing pools on the planet.

The World’s Largest Pool

There are a lot of hotels and resorts known for their pools, but only Chile’s San Alfonso del Mar holds the title of World’s Largest Swimming Pool. The impressive waterway, constructed by Crystal Lagoons, measures .63 miles long, covers over 20 acres of land, holds 66 million gallons of seawater and reaches a maximum depth of 115 feet. With an estimated yearly budget of $4 million worth of maintenance, it’s likely the resort will continue holding their title for a long while.

Skypark

Those with a fear of heights will probably want to avoid the pool at Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands Hotel. That’s because the impressive Skypark pool isn’t just the tallest in the world –it also takes advantage of its 55-storey view by removing the barricades from the sides of the infinity pool, giving you an unbeatable view of the city as you swim.

Hanging Gardens

Look up just about any travel guide’s list of most impressive swimming pools and you’ll see the Hanging Gardens’ pool –and with good reason. This two-level infinity pool, by architect Popo Danes, is suspended high over the jungles of Bali. The free-form, curved design invoke images of terraced rice paddies, while the Batu Chandi stone provide a feeling of luxury as the swimmer feels as though they are literally swimming in the treetops.

The lower level features a recessed deck that offers almost complete privacy and the pool has a built-in bench beside the beam supporting the upper deck so bathers can enjoy feeling the splashes dripping down from above.
