Clothes dryers are wonderful, but they're wasteful when you have a small load, they can damage delicate items, they can shrink other items and they're sometimes just too darn loud. That's why it can be great to have a laundry line even if you have a mechanical dryer. Having one inside can be particularly beneficial as it means you won't risk the items getting dirty, stolen or sunbleached -and, of course, you don't have to worry if it's raining or snowing outside.
That being said, you probably don't want to have a laundry line or two hanging across one of your rooms at any given time. That's where Just About Home's clever creation comes in. This clever blogger has a gorgeous laundry room with laundry lines available -but not always out on display.
To use the lines, she simply has to pull out the retractable cords from the back of her cabinet beside the sink and attach them to the hooks hiding on the other side. This set up provides enough cable to hang up a whole load of clothes. The writer even notes that since installing the clothes lines she almost never uses the dryer.
One thing she does point out though is the need to anchor both ends of the lines to a stud in your wall as clothes lines seem light but a whole line of wet clothing isn't.
