One of the best things any home can offer is ample natural lighting and the MIL Metal House provides sun in spades. Architects Max Ibañez and Claudio Iabarca took advantage of the home's natural Chilean forest views by incorporating as many windows and outdoor spaces while still providing enough shade to keep the home nice and cool as it rests under the hot Santiago sun.
The use of steel, hard wood and concrete also helps maintain a cool, comfortable temperature that perfectly contrasts with the natural woodlands around the home. At the same time, the warm colors of these beautiful materials create a cozy, homy feeling that seems both modern and serene.
As if the materials and extensive roof shade weren't enough to keep the home cool, it is also fitted with insulating panels to keep the interior temperature cozy no matter how hot or cold it gets outside.
To ensure the house's industrial materials don't clash with the forest outside, the windows are glazed with a reflective coating to help mirror the stunning landscape of the home's natural surroundings.
