What happens when you combine a loom and a bookshelf? Something surprisingly lovely and amazing, as evidenced by Bloom, a loom-inspired bookcase created by a Tel Aviv design team Yael Mer and Shay Alkalay of Raw Edges.
The design is refreshingly unique because unlike most bookcases that attract attention away from the books themselves, Bloom draws the eye immediately to the titles stored on its cords -making your favorite reads the stars of the show.
Raw Edges was commissioned to make the bookcase earlier this year by the British Council. The project involved designing a unique piece of furniture to help celebrate Granta's once a decade selection of the Best of Young British Novelists. The bookshelf was then filled with one title from each of the writers selected by the prestigious literary magazine since the first list was published back in 1983.
